In 2022, Tony Castro ran for Member of The Fullerton City Council to represent District 5. He was offered, and refused, a corporate endorsement/donation for his campaign. On August 22, 2022, Tony Castro refused a corporate donation and corporate endorsement from the Fullerton Apartment Association so he can be free to fight for the people. The Fullerton Apartment Association is a Political Action Committee in Orange County, and consist of a group of rich landlords and wealthy developers who are trying to raise rents in Fullerton. Tony Castro is not for sale, cannot be bought and will never accept corporate donations for his campaign. Tony Castro wants to be free to fight for the renters of Fullerton, not the rich landlords and developers. As a member of the Fullerton City Council, Tony Castro will fight to implement a strict rent control policy.
